I've been playing with rebatching in the microwave and I have found a method that I really like so I thought I would share it with you. I put my shaved soap in a large bowl and place it in the microwave at 30% power. It goes on for 10 minutes the first round , I bring it out, stir it out and add a bit of water. After that I put it on for 3 - 5 minute spurts until it's smooth enough for my taste. For me this is working and I hope it works for you as well.

Cheers

How smooth do you get with your rebatch? I am not liking rebatching at ALL because melted soap is pretty thick, and not fluid at all for me. And the top looks atrocious when you remold it...or, is that just me? I know it's going to be "not liquid" but...uuuuhhhhgggghhh....rebatch just does not make me happy.

When I rebatch I add water, I eyeball it so I can't tell you how much but I start out with none in the bowl for the first 10 minutes. My soap is grated to give it a better chance of melting and then at the 10 minute mark I add enough water to moisten it and then start my short 5 minute bursts, mixing it gently at each interval under it is smooth enough for my preference, which is pretty smooth. Once it's ready to be poured into the mold is when I add whatever I'm going to add, spices, etc. I then put it on another 3-5 minute burst @ 30%.

I hope this helps.

I can't help you with your other challenge though......

Rebatch does not come out smooth and it will never be fluid like the first time aroung.
I don't care for rebatching as it looks too rustic for my taste.

Hi, here's a picture of the Shaving Soap I did that was rebatched - not as smooth as CP but not as bad as some of the ones I've played with..... :?

Image

Dragonlady - if you add oils you need to only use a little bit - if you use too much the bar becomes oily and won't set up properly. At least that's what I've found.

I've had a couple of disasters with rebatching already but was able to melt them down again and rebatch them one more time to create something usable and giftable....

Cheers

Hi, I just finished another microwave rebatch and I took a picture so you can see what it looks like in the bowl.

Rebatch isn't always ugly or rustic. I've even managed to swirl with rebatches
This was done in the microwave.
