Has anyone ever boiled beets, seen the awesome color of the water and thought, "what if I added lye to THAT water and used it for making soap?" What would happen? Could I make soap with that? These are now the thoughts that cross my mind!! I am curious though, anyone ever done that?

It will oxidize and turn tan to brown. The color won't stay.

are you able to use dried natural colorants to the soap for color? mustard powder or turmeric, maybe even dried powdered beets?

An idea...id love more natural colors.

Mustard powder can be a skin irritant. Dried powdered beets won't keep their color.
You can use parsley or chlorophyll for a temporary green. Unrefined palm oil can give you orange. Turmeric (small amount) will give you yellow.
Clays can give you gray, pink, peach or black.
