My granddaughter has had a terrible breakout on her face and been told (by the school nurse) that it looks like a reaction to sulfates or sulfides which are present in a lot of her skin care products. My soap is made with olive, coconut, caster, lard and sweet almond oils. It is scented with f.o.s and colored with mica or oxides. Would there be any sulfides in this soap. I am going to make her some unscented and uncolored castile soap but I know it will be quite a while before it is ready.

I would check her shampoo or toothpaste. Sodium laureth sulfate, or sodium lauryl ether sulfate (SLES), is a detergent and surfactant found in many personal care products (shampoos, toothpaste etc.)
