I made my first goat's milk soap. It's still sleeping at the moment. I used canned milk and added it to the oils. I had read in the forum that this could be done. I also read that some people buy the powdered goat's milk and add it to the oils as well. Since it was my first time making it I went for small and cheap (small can $1.35 vs. box @ $13). Should I look for anything weird to happen with it. I mean it will behave like normal soap right. It should gel and be hard in 24-48 hours depending on mold used (wood vs. silicon).

I made two small batches. One with olive and castor oil, with 2 tablespoons of colloidal oatmeal. I made the other with coconut/olive/palm and castor oil and I also used colloidal oatmeal. Neither are scented.

I will unfold tomorrow and see how they turn out.

Good luck! I don't use canned milk as it's usually concentrated, which means it has more sugars. Those sugars can make the soap overheat.

So not knowing that it would heat up more than normal does this mean that the soap is no good? Like I said it was my first time making goat's milk soap. If I can get the pictures small enough ill post pictures.

It doesn't mean that the soap is no good, you just have to make sure that the soap doesn't overheat.

Did you replace all of the water with canned GM, or some?

I use canned GM because it's more concentrated. I use it for 1/2 of my liquid. I have never replaced all of my liquid with canned milk!

I split the water and goats milk. I poured the milk into the oils and used the water with the lye.

So my next batches of goats milk went off without a hitch. They are unscented and have colloidal oatmeal in them. They are a very pretty creamy beige color.

Made my 2nd/3rd batches of beer soap tonight. My first batch was small and I didn't have a problem with over heating. Well, these two have gotten a little warm, but they look really pretty.

I used this recipe from soap queen. http://www.soapqueen.com/bath-and-body- ... beer-soap/

First time, I actually had all the ingredients (oil wise), but I didn't follow the color scheme. I used a Black and Tan beer with darkening fragrances.

One was black tea (bb) with a hint of blueberry. And the other was blackberry sage (wsp) and it has poppy seeds in it. They both are sitting in their molds with a pizza pan sitting over them to let the heat escape. I really don't want mount soap to erupt.

If I can get good pictures small enough I will post them.

Thanks for all the help everyone!
