Hi all,
I made the lemon poppy seed soap, the one with the mica vein in the middle. It came out beautiful and I was so proud of it! I left it in the mold for 4 days for it to completely cool off and it came out easily. On the 4th or 5th day of curing i was turning one of the soaps over very gently and it fell apart in my hands! Right on the mica line :!: Well, curiosity got to me because I sell these soaps and can't have something like that happening to a customer; I picked up another one and gently put pressure on both sides and same thing happened. The whole batch is ruined

Is there any way to save it? AND what did I do wrong to cause this to happen; I followed the directions exactly. Please help, I want to make this soap again but am now gun-shy.

Thanks anyone who knows about this

I've had that happen too. You need the thinnest line possible, otherwise it will separate. I don't know what you could do with it now besides possibly rebatch.

Happened to me too...gotta have a very thin layer as Irena said..also make sure to blow on it to 'set' it better :)

I put my mica in a round stainless steel tea infuser with a straight handle and shake the mica gently over the top of the soap. I get a more even spread of mica dust than when doing it by hand and you can keep it pretty thin. It is messy though, and you might want to wear a mask if you are sensitive to the airborne particles.
