my total soap recipe is 47 ounces that includes the lye and water.

What are the benefits of pine tar? It sounds yucky but I like to try new things.

the benefits can be wonderful. it can help people with eczema and psoriasis. if you get poison oak, or poison ivy it can help calm the irritation. it might even help when you get a sun burn but i am not sure about that.

I made a batch of pine tar soap last fall because my son has eczema that gets worse in cold weather. When I made it the smell was awful, it stunk up my whole house for days. I had to put it outside to cure because after smelling it for a while the smell was revolting to me. After I cut it, I put it in a cardboard box and its still there to this day, lol, I can't stand to smell it! My husband did try one bar and it was a nice soap but the smell was pretty strong in the shower. The recipe I had called for 20% and I used 15% Pine Tar. I also tried to cut down on the pine tar smell by adding some lavender and citrus EO but they couldn't fight off the odor. It might not have such an awful smell if you use about 1/4 of what I used. Please post when you make it about how it came out!
