Teach Soap

For some reason my scents, when used in my cold process soap, smell amazing .... but when used you can not smell it on your hands or body . Why is that, and is there something that can be changed to make the scent stay on your skin for a little while?

Where are the scents from and how much are you using per lb. of oils? Soap is not meant as a fragrance. It is a wash off product.

Depending on how much fragrance you're using, you might be able to add a little more. You also might find that different types of fragrances stick to your skin a little better - I can smell earthy, woodsy scents for hours on my skin, you might find a category that sticks to you like that. In general, though, like soapbuddy said, soap scent is never going to work well as a fragrance. You can dilute fragrance oils into perfume oils or learn to make lotion to keep your skin smelling like your favorite soap, though!

I am using 2oz fragrance oil per 6 pound loaf, and I get my scents from Bramble Berry. My customers complain that they cannot smell it after use, (I know it is not meant as a fragrance, and it is a wash off product.) but other homemade soaps they buy, they can still smell the scent for a few minutes after use.

2 oz for a 6 pound loaf is pretty low, that's probably your problem. I use .7 oz per pound of oils for fragrance that sticks around for, depending on the fragrance, roughly 30 minutes after a shower.

Have you tried the ? It's a nice little tool for checking fragrance amounts for a few different bath & body products. It recommends 2.88 oz for 6 pounds of soap for a light fragrance.

I used BB fragrance calculator before I added lavender EO to my soap - 31 ml per a kilo of soap for a light scent. Soap is still in the mold and the scent is so strong! I get used to it when I am at home but if I leave the house for a while I then come back to a very lavender smelling house haha Will it fade with time?
