Teach Soap

I've been reading the website of the Handcrafted Soap and Cosmetic Guild and I am thinking about joining. They also offer a membership with insurance provided, which seems like a bonus to me, but I have yet to evaluate other insurance policies and look to see if there are any other associations for soapers out there. I've also looked at the Indie Business Network. Do you belong to a soapers association, and do you get your insurance through it? I would think that with the benefits of a large membership the insurance would be cheaper that way. Just looking for other places I can check out.

I was looking into them too for insurance. Since my business will start up sometime this year I was looking as to who would provide insurance for a handmade home based business. It looks like a great option but I haven't found or looked into others yet.

If you find out about any please post here and I'll do the same. Hopefully I'll have some uninterrupted time on Monday to do some searching and reading.

It might be worth checking if whoever you have other insurance through (like car, home/renters) offers suitable business insurance. Lots of companies have multi policy discounts so if their buisness insurance had the right coverage and was reasonable you might also get extra discounts all around.

I researched, calling insurance agents. In the end, either Indie Business or HSCG were better deals than I could find anywhere else. And both have membership perks. I went with HSCG, and I'm hoping to go to the conference this year!
