Hi

Please can you tell me if Trace happens quicker if the Lye and oils are hotter or cooler.

Usually if the oils & lye are hot it traces quicker.

The warmer the oils and butters the faster the trace. I normally soap right around 110.

Many thanks for your replies. Would I be correct in saying then, that I could almost let the lye drop to room temperature so that it would give me more time to pour my soap in to individual moulds before thickening

Many thanks for all your help. Just finished making a batch. Got temp on oil and lye close to 110 degrees. Also using a stick blender just ensured that mixture was emulsified. Poured into my individual moulds much easier. Will leave a good four days before de-moulding. Feeling pleased with myself at the moment
