I've not yet acquired a wooden mold yet, so I am resorting to cardboard boxes. When I try to figure out how many ounces of soap I need to fill the particular shape, I place a garbage bag over it and fill it with water. Then I pour and measure the water. So then, lets say I need 55 oz of soap. I use the soap calc (great tool) to start attempting to come up with a formula. Next I need to go a step further for the water/lye amount. I always have to go back and forth to come up with just the right total. But lo and behold, I screw up! Is there an easier way???? Does a cubic inch of water and a cubic inch of soap the same? Also, is there a general consensus on the size of a bar of soap in length, width and height and weight? Uuma says thank-you very much!
