Well, I had my first (real) disaster with soaping...apparently I used wax paper last night in my state of frustration (rather than my freezer paper) and apparently, wax paper does not like soap? I couldn't figure out why it was suddenly so hard to line my molds? LOL This was about the 25th batch of soap I've made but one of the first times I ever used fragrance oil and the ONLY time I've ever used pumpkin spice FO.

The hot soap oozed through the wax paper and has hardened into my two wooden molds. So I now I have 9lbs of soap stuck in two molds.

I have not quite figured out what I'm going to do, yet...I'm tempted to get out a saw...or a hammer....or the truck....but I know how much I spent on these molds. The 6lb one I just got in the mail on Monday.

I'm hoping that by letting them harden a little bit, they'll be easier to get out? HA...

There they are (right after I poured last night)

That's too bad. I use wax paper for the top of my soaps, but not for the lining. I would try a flat blade long dinner knife or a spackle knife. Get between the mold and the soap to break the seal between the two. Maybe freezing the soap would help?

I have done exactly the same thing. Give it a couple of days and then take the knife along the sides like Soapbuddy said. Freezing will help some but you have to run the knife around it as soon as you pull it out of the freezer. It makes the soap "suck" up some. It will come out of the molds, patience, young grasshopper.....

It looks like a couple things happened - one, the soap seems to be having some separation issues so let the entire thing harden and hopefully, you can start prying. Keep us posted on that. I've used wax paper and it's a total pain (you have to peel it) but it's workable.

I don't even want to ask because I suspect I know the answer but was this the Bramble Berry Pumpkin Spice?

Thank you guys!

I was finally able to wrassle it out of the molds...I ended up slicing it IN the molds (each bar into 1/3's) and then I sacrificed one end of each to use a pry bar (like, literally--I jacked it out of my husband's tool shed) and used it in combination with a knife to get the bars out. They ain't pretty...but I like to call them...um..."ultra rustic!" LOL

They smell a-m-a-z-i-n-g, though...

and yes...it's BB Pumpkin Spice.

Bummer! I've had that problem before and the others are right. Freezing and quickly using a thin bladed knife, along with the patient help of my husband, worked best. Good luck with your soaps!

Well, I managed to pry it all out of the molds. LOL It's UGLY....I have actually sold quite a few bars! I sliced up the SUPER-ugly ones and put them into organza bags and sold them as "odds/ends/bits & pieces" along with a few other soap scents. I'm sure I lost money on this batch but at least I've been able to recover some expense. And the experience is always a good thing. As long as I learn from it! LOL
