Teach Soap

I'm getting frustrated trying to do swirls, layers, etc. Maybe someone can help me out.

The oils I love are

Olive
Coconut (for lather)
Cocoa
Rice Bran
Sunflower
Avocado
Castor

I don't have to use them all..........

Any suggestions?

I'm also wondering if maybe I've been soaping at too high a temp. Around 110-120 degrees, any thoughts?

I quit using castor. Never could swirl anything with it in it. Also Colorants and FO's can sometimes speed things up. Ive done my best swirls with Mica's in them I guess because I mix them in some water. I also hand stir my Colorant's and FO's in instead of stick blending.

2 oz Sunflower Oil (6.25%)
4 oz Cocoa Butter (12.5%)
8 oz Coconut Oil, 76 deg (25%)
12 oz Olive Oil (37.5%)
6 oz Rice Bran Oil (18.75%)

12 oz water
4.4 oz lye (6% excess)

I am new at it but I like to soap around 105 to 110. I always had things speed up way too quickly at 120

I use castor in every batch, I like the bubbles. For a slower moving recipe you can just bump the olive oil, rice bran is also a good one. Most recipes with somewhere around 50% olive oil will give you plenty of time to do whatever you want to do.
