Teach Soap

I am about to give up on liquid soap. I made my paste a couple of weeks ago. That went fine. I diluted 1 cup of paste to 4.5 cups of water. I then seperated out 16 oz (yes, I had some soap left over but that is a different story). I added the proper recommended amount of fo (Spellbound Woods from BB). Smelled great. Lathered great. I thought all was great. 2 days later, it seperated. Here is a picture.

Any ideas what may have happened? Could it be the fo? I have tested 2 more fo's, just in small cups and one is fine and the other looks like it is trying to do the same thing. TIA for any help.

I've never made liquid soap. But when I read your description, it sounds like you are making soap, then turning it into a paste, then adding water and FO? That seems weird to me. Is there a reason you aren't scenting when you make the soap initially? In my experience, FOs and EOs don't blend with water. they seperate.

I bet it was the FO that did it.

My diluted soap was room temp. Maybe that is it. I will try it. So far every scent I have tried stays white in the soap. Well, except the Spellbound Woods obviously.

I haven't tried warming my LS before adding my fo so that's something new to try. Some fo's do cause separation and some will thicken/thin the soap and others make it cloudy. Lots of experimenting with making liquid soap!

Well after I read the response of warming it up, I tried it and so far so good. There is no seperation after about a week. The first one that is picture started to seperate a day later. I think I am liking this technique. Now if I could find an fo in my stash that goes clear instead of cloudy. I don't mind the cloudiness mostly but it would just be fun to have it clear.
