Swirled Scallop Soap

Soap Recipe by Beth Berhow

Scalloped Soap
Ingredients:

• 2 lbs clear Melt and Pour glycerine base
• Vertical Mold or Scalloped bread mold (Pampered Chef makes a nice one)
• Vitamin E oil
• Fragrance oil
• 3 to 4 coordinating colorants (to make sure when the colors mix that it won't turn an ugly brown or icky green, unless that's what you're going for)

Instructions:

1. Line the bottom of your tube with tin foil to prevent too much leakage.

2.
Mix your Melt and Pour in 4 oz. increments with the scent, and a few drops of vitamin E, and 1st colorant. Pour in just enough to line and seal the bottom of your tube. Wait about 10 minutes for it to harden.

3.
Melt your base and add the vitamin E and scent for the 2nd color. Pour into your mold. Wait about 5 minutes in between adding batches of color to ensure a swirling effect, instead of colors completely mixing together. Spritz with alcohol in between layers to promote adhesion and remove bubbles. Do this until your 2lbs of base is gone, alternating colors.

4.
Wait about 3 hours for soap to harden completely and then turn your mold around in a warm water bath (with all lids removed) for a minute or two and the soap should release to cut. I use my Pampered chef ripple vegetable cutter instead of buying a soap cutter and I slice soap in about 10 slices. This will make the soaps approximately 3 oz. each. I site them on a baking sheet until the water from the warm bath is dry and then package them.

NOTE:
You can also wait 10 minutes in between colors to make striped scallop soap or add color chunks and pour a single color of the base to make scalloped chunk soap. These actually sell the best for me and they are the easiest soap to make in quantity.
