Teach Soap

I have just about had it with colors. From this point on I will use nothing but LabColors. Except!!!!! I just threw Soft Heather, Sky at Dusk, and Sage Mist in the garbage. My lovely smelling peppermint eucalyptus soap looks like pea soup. Oops. That color is supposed to be Soft Heather. Maybe I am using too much. So far I am good with Lemon Sherbert, Soft Orange, Lime Sherbert and Pink Mauve, all high pH.

I am just getting ready try Purple Passion. I will be very very conservative and hope I don't end up with Gun Boat Grey!!!!!

Did you use enough? Did the soaps gel? Sometimes those colors change as the soap gels, then cures. Don't be conservative with the Purple Passion. If you are, it will turn gray.

Crap. I just made it and I was conservative. It is already in the mold .Now I will be peeking at it every 10 minutes for the next 24 hours. I always gel. I always dilute in a little water first. It seems to me that coloring soap is kind of like glazing a piece of ceramics. It looks like one thing when you put it on/in and entirely different on the finished product.

It is whatever it is. Feel free to peek, but that won't change anything. Worst case scenario is that you can shred it up and add it to another batch, so it won't go to waste.

Yep! Those colors definitely change as the soap sets up and cures. Also make sure you shake, shake the colors like crazy. Especially the purples, some clumps of colorant can settle to the bottom. More info here;

Oh yeah. Here it is. Another three pound block of great smelling, wonderful recipe, GRAY soap. Every batch of soap that I have made that I consider a reject is because of color.

I am soaping today WITH NO COLOR!!!!!!

Don't feel bad. I made a rosehip tea soap last week that was supposed to be pink ... DUH! It's brown. A pretty shade of brown mind you but brown nonetheless

I have really never had my cp gel soap come out the color I thought it would. I name them and than once I see the way they turned out, I re-name them and they sell just the same. Only I knew what they should have looked like Don't fight it. just join it

I agree, coloring is harder than fragrance! (except for green and brown)

Don't even worry about it. I have about 8 batches of soap that either looks like poop or pinkish greyish brownish. Yeach! I started using the micas and have had AWESOME experience with them! I was just sad that I spent so much on LabColors, LOL! Live and learn! I think I'll use the LC for melt and pour (when I don't care about bleeding).

I'll be danged! After three days the grey soap is now a very light lavender which is what I was after. Oh happy day!
