Teach Soap

I have seen lots of GM lotions out there and I know a few people who love them. Does anyone know how they do it preservative wise so they don't spoil? Will using powdered GM work? I'm going to make some and try it for myself but I want it to last for a while, and then I may send it for testing.

They are one of the MOST difficult to preserve. It makes no difference whether you use powder or liquid. If you decide to make it, use a paraben based preservative at the maximum recommended amount and use it at a 10% of your liquid (water) portion.

There are a couple of really good Facebook groups on lotion making and they both recommend NOT using ingredients like milks, teas, hydrosols, aloe, etc because it's bug food and nearly impossible to effectively preserve, even with parabens.

Would you mind sharing the names of the groups, in a pm if not on this thread? Thanks to both for your input! I am just dying to try it, but I don't think I'd want to sell it. If it is so great that I would sell, I'd have to research a lot more and would definitely do testing first. I remember asking about this a long time ago when I had someone ask me to make it, but I was worried about spoilage so I politely declined. I've just been seeing so many GM lotions out there now, I was wondering if the thoughts on this had changed, or if a good preservative was found, or if people are just ignoring the whole spoilage issue. That's why I'd rather make my own to try, I don't really want to try someone elses who I don't know.
