For the first time in nearly a year of soap making I have found a bar with the dreaded orange spot. Just one lonely spot on just one bar of soap.

My question is if I am going to get DOS. How long does it take to show itself for example will it be in the first four weeks of production and then if you have not got it by then your batch will never get it

From what I've read, it's mysterious. The only time it has happened to me was a bag of rebatch (not mine, purchased) that I forgot about. I found it on the shelf after about 6 or 8 months, and there were definite orange bits, slightly slimy, on the shreds. It seems that it can happen quickly or after a long time. I'm guessing that being encased in plastic, humid, and no circulation is what did it for the shreds.
