Hi,

It was suggested that some white, concentrated pinpoints within my beer soap might be stearic acid. I thought they were trapped air bubbles. Is stearic acid a side effect of making cp? Is there a benefit to adding this and what happens if it's removed altogether (if that's possible...)? I guess I'm asking, 'what's the deal with stearic acid?!!'.

As usual, thank you!

If you used palm oil and it's not homogenized, the stearic can settle to the bottom of the container. This can create white specks in your soap. Properly made recipe does not need extra stearic acid. Stearic acid also needs a higher temp to melt. Stearic at higher % also accelerates trace. Use too much and your soap can end up as a soap on a stick.
