So, I wanted to make a purple batch of soap, so I got the big idea to steep blackberries for my lye water.

The water was a dark purple to start, but as soon as I added the lye, it turned this rich green color, and when it had settled, it became this really pretty pumpkin color.

I may not have gotten the purple color I wanted, but at least now I know how to make this color again if I want to!

Yes, it can do that. Most colorful fruits or juices added to soap will oxidize and loose color.
