Teach Soap

Hello Everyone,
I am new making soap, have been making recipes from blogs etc. I got this recipe that has honey and every time I make it there is oil on top that never saponifies
olive oil 50%
coconut oil 20%
sweet almond 12%
Avocado oil 10%
castor oil8%
I add honey, almond milk
Can anyone help me resolve my problem please?

How much honey are you using? How much milk? How much water? How much super fat? What scent and how much of that? What temp do you soap at?
Are you positive that you are reaching a good trace? Honey is a humectant so it could be that moisture, but it could be plenty of other things, so we really need to know more.

This recipe gives a pretty soft soap to begin with and then you are adding honey and milk, so you may be pushing it too much, really depends on the answers to some of the above questions....

Yes, it will also depend on the size of your batch. If you had a small batch, you used way too much honey and way too much liquid. For even a larger batch, that is a lot of honey.

Also, your temp is very, very low. It is too easy to get a false trace at that low of a temp. even for an experienced soaper. But especially when new, you should soap at a higher temp. If you want to soap cool, I'd stay around 105-110 F.

That being said, we do need to know the batch size, how many ounces of oils? And the superfat amount too. Also how many ounces of fragrance did you use?

5lb mold

I made it 2 times and when I poor the oils in the mold they look good, but next day when I uncover half the batch is oil on top like the oils got separated.
What is your advice about making it?

That's about 3lbs. of oils (not including liquids). For that size batch I would not go any higher then 1.5 ozs. of honey. It sounds like your soap overheated due to all the natural sugar in the honey. If you are insulating your batch, I wouldn't for the next one. How much of the fragrance did you use?
