Can I use bentonite clay instead of kaolin. I have a whole container of bentonite. Don't really want to have to go buy another container of a different clay until i have used this one up.

Yes you can use the bentonite, but it is different than kaolin. So what are you using it in? For what?
Basically;

Bentonite Clay
Good for oily skin. Draws out and traps dirt and toxins.

Kaolin Clay
Also called white cosmetic clay. Best for normal, dry, mature and sensitive skin types. Does not absorb excess oils. White, pink or yellow in color (white is mildest.)

I guess I am just looking for a soap recipe I like. I bought the bentonite clay for a shaving soap i was going to do. haven't done it yet. Was wondering if I could use the bentonite in my daily soap recipe.

If you want to use it, you can. But if you do not have oil skin, it may be too much for you to use daily. It will depend on your skin. The only way to know for sure is to try it. Some people are not bothered by it, while others are dried out too much if they use it daily.
