I've seen people talk about SL and how they are able to umnold in 12 hours or less but I can only assume they do not gel. I tried it for the 1st time Sunday morning and the soap was still a bit too soft last night when I unmolded soap I'd usually let sit in a corner for 3-4 days. Usage was 1 tsp ppo ...

Also, does anyone know if it effects FO's?? First time trying Blue Man and Bonsai from BB and in the bottle they smelled great but they have barely survived and I am curious if it was the SL or the FO's or me. I hope the scents morph again as they cure like the milk soaps because I was really looking forward to offering more unisex fragrances :-(

My memory says sodium lactate usage is 1-3% of oil weight. It's best to weigh, not use volume measurements. It's never caused a scent to morph on me but I've rarely used it. I have yet to soap either Blue Man or Bonsai fo. Did you check the Bramble Berry fragrance calculator to see the recommended usage rates? Sorry I'm not much help but I'm sure others know more.

I use SL in every batch at about 1.5%. If your soap is soft, I would recalculate your recipe with harder oils or butters. You need to go be weight, not volume.

I just followed instructions I found on a popular soap blog  ... she states if using SL to add 1 tsp ppo in several recipes ...

I will for SURE recalculate - thank you. :D

So ... I can assume then, it will make a HUGE difference in also un-molding those little cute molds that are roughly .5 oz in shapes of shells etc? I somehow end up with extra soap every time I make a 2# batch and instead of wasting soap I keep trying to make cute little samples or something. I guess the freezer method might work.

Now for the stupid question of the day. Would the percentage be the same for HP? I have a few FO's that will not behave for me and I was thinking of trying them in HP but prefer a smoother look like CP ...

As it is I make 3 batches at a time. 2 for me, one to go wrong. Trying to change my averages LOL This last weekend ... the only real issue was it was my first time trying SL ... and new FO's ... and the FO's disappointed me in finished product. :( However .. they are purdy enough to make ME happy. Pic's later :-)

The % would be the same whether CP or HP. Single little molds you can put in the freezer. That should help pop them out.
