Teach Soap

I love making soy candles and they throw scent pretty well but not the same as their paraffin counterparts (which I refuse to use or make, ick) I read in a couple different places online that adding 1/2tbsp to 1tbsp of 76 degree coconut oil per pound of wax is supposed to help throw the scent better. Has anyone tried this, does it really work? I use Golden Brands GW 444 if that adds any more insight.

I used soy when it first came on the scene about 11 or so years ago. At that time rumor had it that crisco would help the scent throw. Did it really? Well that really depended on who you talked to LOL!! It's the same now with coconut oil.......I personally don't think it does anymore than the crisco. The best way to increase your scent throw is to add some paraffin.

I tried it awhile back and I'm not sure I noticed that much of a difference. I find the brand of soy (at least in my experience) makes a difference. I prefer anything by Ecosoya (the CB Advanced and the new Excel are excellent).

I'm with soapchick on this one. I think it matters more on what wax you're using. I'm an Ecosoya girl, too.

I tried the coconut oil & I've tried crisco. I didn't really notice anymore scent throw by using either of these.
