Just a little advice please, I am making tarts with a soy pillar/container blend and using 10% fragrance oil, but how do I get a stronger, longer lasting fragrance like the companies such as Front Porch and Rosegirls get? :)

Thank you in advance

Where are you getting your fragrance oils from? Some don't have a good scent throw in soy tarts.

10% should be plenty good, even more than enough for most of their fo's. I've never tried Rosegirls tarts/candles, but I do know that Front Porch's are a blend of soy & paraffin. From my experience, paraffin blends tend to give better scent throws than soy.

But, I do have a couple questions for you. What temperature is your wax when you're adding the fo & how long do you wait to melt the waxes after they're made?

I have been melting my wax to 180, adding the oil, stirring for a good while, then pouring at 130, and testing melts after a week

Soy wax is very picky about what scents throw well. If you've let it cure a week and still get no throw it's your FO. You can either add some paraffin to your soy, or keep testing FO's. 8)

Perhaps I should be adding some paraffin to the soy? Perhaps 30% would you recommend?

I recently bought some palm pillar wax to try in my tarts because several people indicated better hot and cold throw than soy. I like the crackled effect palm wax gives but I'm not sure how good that would be for blending with soy.

Just substitute your container wax with paraffin container wax and that should do the trick. I personally use around 25% container wax with my pillar wax. Start at 10% and see how you like it and go from there.

Thanks chris, I'll certainly give that a go, I feel as though I am going backwards instead of forwards at times.......

Athena that's the wonderful world of candle making LOL. I've been at this for 15 years and still feel that way at times. Unfortunately, the testing never ends! 8)

The company that makes my wax told me to use 7-10%, less is sometimes more. To much FO or pouring too hot can actually kill the scent so they told me! I have only stumbled across a few FO that don't throw well in my soy...however I am lucky enough to have customers that have requested light fragrance so it worked out perfect:0)

I replied to your other thread, same response for this one too hehe

You really shouldn't need more than 5-10% fragrance for a decent throw. And anything over 25% you have to watch with tea lights as they can flash the fragrance!
