I just want to say hello to everybody and thanks to the moderators for letting me in.

My wife and myself have decided to make soap as a new hobby and to give as gifts as in the UK the gift baskets that have been avaliable for Xmas have been very poor in recent years.

I will be making cold process soaps, tried one recipie that was on a UK TV network website and it riced on me, although we managed to get it into a mould and it seemed to cure ok.

Should have known better as the recipie didn't have what temperature to work at and it had the person adding the oil and lye the wrong way around (which we did the correct way around)

Will be trying one of the starter recipies from the Teach soap website (the Canola, Palm and coconut oil one) in a small amount and see how we get on this time.

Good luck! Just remember to run the recipe through a lye calculator first.
