Hi all,
Please help!!!!!!!!! After I pour I leave my soap for hours, even over night and I'm still having tremendous trouble removing the soap from the mold. 3 of my molds are now ruined as they are lopsided, etc. I cannot keep buying new molds. I believe I even tried the regrigerator and the freezer with no luck. I'm also using a butter knife on the side to get the soap to pop out but then it ruins the soap. Why does it look so easy on the videos? I'm pressing and pushing...then the mold gets ruined. :!: Please help-I don't want to limit myself to only silicone.
Thanks!!!

Where did you get your MP base from?

Hmmm...I think those were the JoAnn's bases. I'm just starting to use the Bramble base. I had posted a few questions about that and some people had replied that the craft store is not the same quality. I bet this is the problem. :?:

It for sure has to be the cheap craft store base. Just popped out 3 new dog soaps from mold without any problems at all. Will not buy that stuff again. Lesson learned.

I would get rid of that craft store base, unless you just want to use it around the house.

Hi, mysoapbox!

Gosh, I'm so sorry you're having so much trouble getting your soap out of the molds. I know that's frustrating (and it kinda hurts your fingers!).

I do agree that you won't find the highest-quality base at a craft store (been there, done that, got the t-shirt).

It doesn't sound like you're trying to unmold too soon if you're leaving them to set overnight. Now, I have torn up cheap molds trying to unmold in the early days and I appreciate the sturdier molds now.

Something that I do that seems to help tremendously? Before I try to unmold, I gently pull one side of the mold away from the soap with my fingertips (be careful not to ding the soap). Just a little, just enough to break the air seal holding the mold so closely to the soap. Then I turn the mold over and press. You can see the air bubble as the soap releases, and you can press according to where you need to most.

That's helped me, and I hope it helps you, too. Good luck! :D

Ouch! I have also reuined molds trying to get out too early as well. I watched all the videos that Brambleberry made and learned that you should use the heel of your palm on the center of the back to press out the soaps. Tried it out and gee it works great. If I still have trouble I will also try to pull the mold away from the side gently and again use my palm to get it out. If it still doesn't come out...which you will find that does happen especially it you're using the popsickle mold since those don't bend at all...try the freezer for 10-15 minutes no longer, let it come to room temp and press it out now. It will for sure come out easily this way. I've read though that you should use this as a last resource though and don't put everything in the freezer or fridge since it may effect any layers etc. Good Luck!

I believe it was the cheap base from the stores. I haven't had a problem since I switched over to Brambleberry bases. Lesson learned. :P

That's why. Use the cheap base to clean around the house if you have to.
