Pumice stones wash up on our beaches so it is almost a free additive. I have ground some down and sieved it ready to go. But I don't want to make sand paper so what would be a good proportion of pumice to soap base to get a nice exfoliating soap ?

Everyone is different so there's not any set rule. Start by adding a small amount and gradually add more until you get it the way you like. :D

If it's very finely ground, I would start with 1 Teaspoon of pumice for 1 lb. of soap.
