Hello,

I am currently working on a senior design project in improving the hot process of soap making. I am searching experienced soap makers for their input in the following questions:

Would you prefer to use a customized mold or one soap block in which you can cut the soap at different sizes?

What cylindrical size of mixer would you be more willing to use?

5 gallon ( 10" tall x 11.5" wide)
8 gallon (13.5" x 13.5" wide)
10 gallon ( 16.5" high x 13.75" wide)

What is the most difficult or time consuming step in the hot process?

Do you separate the glycerol from the end soap product? Why?

What would you recommend if we want to use cooking oil as a recycling way to use oil in soap making process?

A quicker response through this survey link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PGLPRNN

Thank-you for your participation!

I use a log mold. My soaps are uniform in size.
I use a recycled 50 lb. bucket from my coconut oil for larger batches and use a Waring Big Stick with a stainless steel shaft that's 10".
I don't do hot process. My soaps are cold process with no cooking and no gel.
Removing glycerol from the end product would make the soap drying. I would never do that.

Recycled cooking oil is oxidized. Any soap made from it would be more prone to rancidity and DOS.
I want the best for my customers, I would never use recycled used cooking oil and I would never sell it this way.
