Teach Soap

I'm having a problem with clear soap being yellowish or cloudy. I tried blueing it but it doesn't work... Any advice?

What happens when you try bluing? Does it actually turn blue? It could also be any fragrance you're using. Some change the color. Not sure if this helps but Anne Marie did a blog post on dis coloring fragrances: http://www.soapqueen.com/bath-and-body- ... urn-brown/

It's a huge block from brambleberry

I know Brambleberry doesn't sell the Ultra Clear, but that one is detergent based. Does it turn cloudy or yellow when you add your fragrance or is it from the soap itself? How are you melting it?

When I add a tiny bit of blue, I really don't see a difference. So I thought I added way too small. Then I added a tiny bit more and it turns out with a blueish tint

Certain fragrances would cloud or yellow more but not all.

I really want to make nice embeds but it doesn't turn out well when it's cloudy or yellow

I read somewhere if you melt the clear base let it harden and then remelt it will become clearer.

I was looking around for a posting on this, and here it is! My daughter and I ordered a cute M&P kit from BB, with little piggy erasers in the clear middle of the M&P. The project went fine, but the clear is not so clear. In the video, A-M's clear is really like glass, but BB's current clear is pretty murky, with a yellowish tint. i tried the bluing trick, too, but not much luck.

I got a 25lb block of "clear" MP from BB just before christmas. It is slightly yellow and slightly 'murky'. But I do find adding a tiny bit of blue really helps, like in Anne-Marie's videos, but it never gets as crystal clear as hers.

What happens after you attempt bluing? will it truly flip blue? It may even be any fragrance you are mistreatment. Some amendment the colour. undecided if this helps however Anne Marie did a web log post on Roman deity coloring fragrances

The bluing helps a little, but not much. We didn't fragrance the clear parts of the soap.

If its clouding try adding a little bit of ethyl alcohol (the kind you drink, high proof above 140 ). Yes alcohol can be drying to the skin but it does help clear up the soap especially if its just for decoration. If you cant get high proof alcohol get 70% ethyl rubbing alcohol (NOT denatured alcohol. That stuff has methanol and may contain benzene which are both very toxic, and not isopropyl because that just doesnt work). Ethyl rubbing alcohol also contains acetone but that evaporates completely at 131 F so as long as you heat the soap to around there it should be good. Dont heat it higher than 173 F though because that will evaporate the ethanol!
