What are the benefits of using a clam shell style mold over using a multiple cavity tray mold?

Clam shells are usually thinner plastic, so you would have to watch your temps, so the clam shell doesn't warp.

I think it's just for convenience. You can basically pour right into the wrapper. I prefer to pour into molds and then wrap with shrink wrap. If I could find clamshells as cute as some of the molds I have, I might try it.

I tried with a clamshell modeled soap tray before, it was good in drying the soap but the product I bought was not of good quality and it got damaged soon.
