Hi Jo! Hi everyone!

Sorry if I haven't posted any updates for a few days - I'm really sick right now and only my being stubborn and bored made me get out of bed to make some soap.
Jo, you are a godsend! The solid brown sugar scrub recipe works! At first I was skeptical because of all the oil the recipe calls for, but the mixture solidified pretty good. I used a combination of regular brown sugar and raw sugar for my experiment, no honey, same amounts of oil, sugar and MP base as called for in the recipe and everything solidified into this toffee looking mass and it's almost as hard as toffee too. I wasn't able to "mix together with hands" like the recipe says you can do but otherwise I'm very pleased with the results.

I used a silicone ice cube tray which makes square cubes for my experiment and so my solid scrub looks just like toffee candy, but smells more vanilla-y because I used BB's vanilla select. I melted my base, mixed in the oil and waited until the oil was fully incorporated and the mix was starting to get thick before I added the brown sugar and FO, then I poured everything into my tray/mold while still constantly stirring to make sure that the heavier raw sugar crystals remained well-suspended all throughout. I then spritzed everything with alcohol to get rid of bubbles.
I tried one of the cubes once it was solid enough and the raw sugar isn't too gritty in this recipe as almost all the regular brown sugar melted with the base-oil mix. It is very moisturizing like you would expect a sugar scrub to be, so this is another definite plus.
I think my search is pretty much over for the perfect sugar bar eventhough I haven't tried this out yet with table/white sugar and I don't know yet if it'll last in the shower if you make it into a regular sized bar. I would probably stick to making this in a one-time use cube or guest size form though just to avoid the issue of melting and stickiness in the shower.
The recipe can be found here under the title "solid brown sugar scrub", just like Jo and Shell said. Hope this helps anyone who might be interested in trying out sugar bars.
