I want to make some lip balms for Christmas and I want to use cocoa butter, however, it STINKS! I hate that smell! Is the "refined cocoa butter" less pungent? Just not a fan of the sickly sweet smell of the regular cocoa butter!

Also, what wax would you guys recommend? I want to avoid bees wax; I don't like the smell of that either, and I find it makes me itchy :(

Ohh maybe sunflower wax, un-stinky cocoa butter, refined shea butter, and jojoba oil. Would that work? Only ever used beeswax and regular cocoa butter before. The thought of that actually makes me shudder LOL

I use white beeswax, which doesn't seem to have any scent.

I also usually use unscented (or maybe they call it deodorized) cocoa butter.

If you ever make some kind of chocolate-flavored lip balm, though, use the regular. I made a chocolate mint with the regular CB, and it smelled like dark chocolate with mint.

You could also use vegetable waxes - carnauba or candellila.

I've used Carnuba wax and, even with only 1/4 to 1/3 of the beeswax amount, it made the mixture so dry and 'crackable'.

Out of the two Vegetables ones, candellila is a good substitute. Although I use white beeswax and never notice a smell...

Ohh are the white ones not super strong ultra sweet honey scented? The yellow ones are sickeningly sweet!

I only have the white ones, never sniffed the yellow (sort of like the yellow snow rule I guess).

For me, the the ones I have are more a waxy type smell than honey.

How long would post take to get to you from Oz? I could ship you a small sample of the stuff I have if you like.

Heather, I use the white beeswax in my lotion bars and it just smells kind of waxy, like Coolah said.

Oh hey, I missed a Coolah post! If you CAN ship it to the US from Oz, not sure about shipping waxes.

Maybe I'll have to get some in September when my credit card is paid off again. Have to research where to get it for the best price! Especially after this month! I ordered 8oz shampoo bottles with lids, but I got the wrong lids! And NG doesn't accept returns for the lids, so I had to place another order to get the proper lids!

Sooo anyone need 20 black flip top lids? Size 20/410. They fit NGs 2oz PET bullet bottles.
