Teach Soap

Has anyone here every made a liquid wool wash? I have a lot of knitter friends, and was asked about it. I'm assuming an olive/lanolin combo, but there must be more to it than that!

I'm a knitter, and the only way that I'll wash my wool items are by soaking for an hour or so in cold water, so that the wool will become saturated. Then I add just a small amount of shampoo and gently agitate it, then do several rinses in cold water. Finally I roll it up in a towel to remove the excess water and lay it flat to dry. Wool will felt if if it's rubbed together or agitated in a washing machine and you really don't need to use anything other than a gentle shampoo or liquid castille soap. Wool also doesn't need to be laundered very often.

I knit some, and washed my daughter's wool diaper covers a lot, but I always lanolized those (or whatever word you'd use). So you think a wool wash could just be castile? How about some lanolin in it?

I bought a super nice wool sweater for $50 and then my wife put it into the washing machine with the rest of the things.
It came out . . . the perfect size for a child

Yeah, that's why you don't agitate! Unless you're trying to felt a project...
