You could also try making a base from scratch with your favorite butters and oils

It's a pretty simple project and it's great to have a customized lip balm. Try this recipe:
.4 oz white beeswax pellets
.4 oz sweet almond oil
.4 oz shea butter
.4 oz cocoa butter
10 drops Viatmin E 1400 IU

In fact, I think I'll try it myself this weekend

Haha,

There must be something in the water. I just finished my first two vials of lip gloss/balm.

My first two vials contain lanolin and one contains TD (for spf protection). But the lanolin is really really nice on the lips.

Haha, but it makes clean up a real bite. The lanolin is so waterproof I may have to break out the polysorbate 80 to clean my tools.

Another member of the forum (sgsoap, dragonspearls, soapbuddy, someone like that) gave me the link to ellen's essentials for my scrub recipe, which turned out awesome. Anyway, I ended up printing the whole booklet so I would have a hard copy. But, Ellen has 2 recipes for lips-one a balm, the other a gloss. Here's the link~

Emolliant Lip Balm

0.5 oz avocado
0.5 oz jojoba
1 oz beeswax
0.5 shea butter
0.5 cocoa butter

Place ingredients in double boiler and heat until wax is melted. Add flavoring if desired. Stir and pour into containers.

Makes approx. 20-.15 tubes

Lip Gloss

4 oz sunflower oil
2 oz meadowfoam oil
2 oz jojoba oil
2 oz beeswax
Flavor oil
lip safe mica

Place oils and wax into double boiler and heat until wax is melted. Add flavor oil and mica. Stir and pour into small pots of other containers.

(she doesn't say how much this makes, but I think we can add!)
