Dimethicone has excellent barrier properties, and adds slip and glide, reducing tackiness, and adding conditioning properties when used in hair and skin care applications. However, I've never used or seen it in a body spray.

On the other hand, Cyclomethicone is frequently used in body sprays. It's often referred to as a "dry oil" spray because it's non-oily and dries super fast. This super fast drying can cause an initial feeling of coolness/cold and/or drying depending on the person's perception of application feel.

The easiest way to make a spray with Cyclomethicone is to simply mix it with fragrance and bottle. Unfortunately, not all fragrances mix well with it, and may precipitate out. Cyclomethicone has a low flash point (133F) so you may not be able to ship sprays with it via anything but ground.

As an example, if you make a spray with 95% Cyclo and 5% FO (flash point of 200F), the total flash point will be 135.4F. Lotioncrafter has a flash point calculator you can use at

You can go up to a 50/50 ratio with the fragrance, though a lot of times less fragrance is used. It depends on how strong the fragrance is and how strong of a scent you want.
