Hi all!
I made my first massage candle using the following:
2 oz soy wax
1 oz cocoa butter
1 oz three oil blend (equal parts olive/sesame/grape seed that I keep mixed for massage bars and body butter)
7.5 ml (approx .25 oz) of the BB Surplus Lavender
I used the WU250 wick and it all went into the candle tins from BB.
The first melt was heavenly! Hubby and I both enjoyed nice, long backrubs.
The second one, when my mother asked for me to work on her shoulders? Not so well. It's as if the second melt was primarily a puddle of just the hot oil. The first pour (thank goodness it was onto my hand and I was pouring slowly) scorched my palm. I swirled the tin for about five seconds and could see a cloudy substance (wax, butter, or a combo) blend into the liquid oil...brought the temperature down to what I remembered and the texture was better.
Now I'm wondering why things either didn't melt evenly OR didn't solidify evenly after the first burn. Any ideas?
