I've been experimenting with bath bombs. I purchased the christmas ornaments to form them into spheres ( they crack easily). The recipe I have with just basic oil, bs, citric acid, and polysorbate turned out great. I tried adding corn starch and I couldn't get the two sides to stick together.

It seems the cornstarch makes them dry. I'm afraid to add more witch hazel for fear of setting off an explosion.

I don't use cornstarch, but maybe a wee bit more oil?

That makes sense. I'll try it.

I don't use cornstarch either.. I never had a batch turn out with cornstarch. I did find out if I didn't wash the ornaments ASAP, they went bad after a couple of uses. It seems the oils make them more brittle and etched.

I use the recipe with cornstarch, and in retrospect, it seems that only the smaller ones really hold their shape well.
