I am new to making lip balms in that I have the ingredients I want to use. I just don't know how to determine the amounts. Can I just use any for example? I have on hand beeswax, coconut oil, almond oil, and olive oil. If you can help it would be appreciated!
Is there a replacement for avocado butter? I live in a really small town and we are lucky to have recently included coconut oil on our shelves.

You can make a soft lip balm with those ingredients, the kind that come in a little pot and you use your finger to spread it. It will probably be too mushy for a tube. You can do about 4-6:1 ratio of those oils to beeswax. So you have a good scale? For a small batch, using grams is best, so 6 grams of those oils (coconut and olive work nicely together) to 1 gram of beeswax, melted. Or 60:10 or however much you want to make.

Try 1/3 wax, 1/3 liquid oil(s), 1/3 butters. If you don't have any butters, up the liquid oil and the wax.

You might find, depending on the climate where you live - that the formula needs to be softer or harder. If you make a lip balm in a stick format, like chapstick, let it harden - (which can take a couple of days to reach fully hardened) Then try it. If you like it, and like the texture - then put it in the pocket of your jeans for a few hours, and try it again.

The body heat can soften it a lot - and a lot of people tend to carry their lip balm around that way.
