LOL...now I'm curious!!! I have a question ladies...when using citric acid, where do you get it? Is it regular granules or finely milled, and is BB's finely milled? I've just noticed some speckling when I use ANY liquid colorant, or powdered for that matter, and I think it's due to the large granules of my citric acid...I've been getting it from Spice World through Amazon, thinking it didn't matter, but when you think about it, a more finely milled citric acid would bind everything together better!! Ha....ok, so I guess my questions are has anyone used the BB citric and has anyone noticed a difference between the regular and the fine ground citric acid? Thanks girls!!!

If you want the bath bombs to float try to keep the compression light. it's a balancing act as they can crumble when you remove from the mold.

I use Bramble Berry's citric acid, which I do like, HOWEVER, I have not tried any other citric acid, so can't really compare it. It seems fairly fine to me, and I am perfectly happy with it.

You posted some good information however the first bit of information refers to boric acid. That is not borax. As the second bit of information states, borax is sodium borate. Sodium borate is the salt and is alkaline in solution (like most soaps and baking soda) boric acid is an acid in solution and behaves very differently than borax. Both can be safe for the suggested uses in the information you supplied.

Humidity will have a huge effect on a bath bomb. In a high humidity environment the water in the air will cause the 2 chemicals (baking soda and citric acid) to go into solution. This will make them react with each other. You won't be able to see it because its happening slowly and in minute amounts. But over time, it can have a big impact. Its like you added less baking soda and citric acid at the start. You will be left with sodium citrate which doesn't do much in the realm of bath bombs.

Its possible that the L place uses an anticaking or desicant (drying substance) in their bath bombs to keep them from 'going flat' just sitting on the shelves.
