"darker" scents?

I'm a big fan of the Black Phoenix Alchemy lab and they offer a lot of sexy dark and deep scents that feature amber, vetiver, patchouli (yes I know its at an all time high price), musk, etc. I've always been attracted to the soap they offer made by the Silk Road company, but I'm not paying $8 for soap.

My question is, do these type of scents not work well in soap? If they don't, why? I just saw the list of top 20 scents BB sells and none were dark, they were all lavender and citrus for the most part. Anyone have any theories why? Has anyone ever tried using oil based perfume to scent their soaps? I was thinking in the direction of using them in rebatch, but I'm a total newbie and I don't know if that's a wise choice.

The reason I'm asking is because I would LOVE to smell dark and sexy like that in a bath, but I don't want to embark on a futile quest if that ends up being the case. Thanks!

Have you tried BB's Dragonsblood? Its amber, patchouli, vanilla and several other fragrances that soap really well. Men love it, and many women as well.

In fact...I need to make some myself...gotta go shop!
