Teach Soap

has anyone found the lilac FO to increase trace? I just used it in a batch and it pretty much seized in the pan. I was trying a different way to add the FO, and added it to the oils before the lye. would this be the cause? or does it increase the trace in general? definately will try again adding at light trace. just looking for some advice from previous users THANKS!

Lots of florals accelerate trace. Keep good notes so you will know for next time. I also posted in your thread here> viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4692&p=40890#p40890

I am gettin ready to try a batch with Lilac. Since I am the "Queen of Seize" I plan to combine lye and oils at 100 degrees and use the maximum amount of water. I will add some oils to the FO before I incorporate it at the very lightest trace possible and I will not touch it with a stick blender after the fragrance is added. I will add about 2.5 ounces to my 51 ounce of oils. I am going to be very dissappointed it I can't get a lilac soap because I love the fragrance so much. I hope I have time to swirl a little bit of lilac color in. I think I will use Anne-Marie's shea butter soap recipe at the beginning of this forum because I love the texture of that soap. More news on the success or failure in a couple days.

Yipee!!! I think I was pretty successful with lilac FO. After a major screw up the day before I needed a success.

I used my tried and true recipe
Lard 28%
soybean oil 27%
Palm oil 14%
Sunflower oil 14%
cocoa butter 7%
castor oil 9%

6% excess fat
19 oz water

Soaped at about 103 degrees. Used 2.5 ounces of Lilac in 51 ounces of oils. Did not stck blend after I put in the FO. It is going through gel phase. I tried to swirl in the pot but it is kind of hard to tell yet if that turned out.
