I would think it would stain the skin. Why don't you infuse it in a little bit of oil, then strain and use that?

Hi soapbuddy! The only point of reference I have really found used another powdered botanical and they suggest infusing it into a little liquid glycerin. I have never used sandalwood powder so I may try your suggestion. thanks!

for color and for fragrance (it is very fragrant and far less expensive than EO or even FO.)

I haven't had any luck with the scent staying. It was for CP though.

yes, I am concerned about fragrance fgade, the scent is very subtle, I can smell it real good, but a tester couldn't smell it at all, so I'm thining about blending it with patchouli or rose oil, although I think I would prefer a gender neutral scent. will research it some more. Who knows, maybe some would like this subtle fragrance? Perhaps I can offer it as an alternative to unscented. some don't like strong scents like I do.

Patchouli oil might overpower your blend. I mostly don't use rose oil because it's very expensive.

yes, I was thinking that too. I have some rose bulgarian essential oil mixed with rose water coming in and will use that on some bars and see how I like it. If it scents up good then I'll use that since it's more affordable. I'll be trying the sandalwood powder out in a couple of days after I get through making oatmeal, milk, and honey goat's milk soap. I've got the cutest molds for it and will be handpainting them.

I'm a newbie, as I'm sure you've guessed and real small time. Just stretching my wings a little and really getting addicted to soap making. wish I could do the REAL deal and make CP, but I don't have the room for it. Plus I'm scared of lye, but the chemist in me is aching to try it anyway.

Rose oil and rose water do not mix. One is only oil soluble and the other is only water soluble. If it was me, I would be leery that its adulterated.

it is described as "rose oil perfume essence. It is a less concentrated form of the pure 100% rose oil and contain approx. 0,3% pure rose oil. " My misunderstanding. It is diluted rose oil.

"rose oil perfume essence"?
The "perfume" part worries me. It could be fragrance oil mixed in.

Worldwide there are only 50 lbs. of TRUE rose oil produced in a good year.
However 500 lbs are sold worldwide in any given year.
See the picture?

How much did you pay for it?

Hi soapbuddy I paid $7 for 12 2.1ml vials of rose perfume essence oil. You get what you pay for and I thought I would check this out. It may work as a fragrance in my soap but we will see.

Update on incorporating sandalwood powder intp M & P: I straight mixed 1 tablespoon sandalwood powder into my pound of melted soap without adding anything else. The scent is faint but the powder dispersed and suspended very well, with only several tiny clumps. Tomorrow I will remelt, sieve to eliminate the few clumps of sandalwood, and add amyris since it is also a woodsy scent in fact often sold as alternative for sandalwood. The next batch I make I will blend the sandalwood powder in just a teaspoon of olive oil, I believe this will help it blend even better. The completed soap does not stain and is not scratchy. It came out a pretty tan shade.

$7 for 12 2.1ml vial is way too low. You could expect to pay 68.98 WHOLESALE for a 1/2 oz. This would retail for double the wholesale price.

I'm sure your oil is a nice synthetic rose oil.
