I let my Patchouli age for a long time. I have at least 5 lbs. of well aged Patchouli left.

Patchouli is one of the EO's that gets better as it ages. I have some that is over 10 years old, some that is 6 or 7, and some that is 2 or 3. I use the newest for soaping and reserving the eldest for specialty blends and products, as well as customers that know the difference!
I think that patchouli is like like lavender, in that many people don't think they like it until they smell the real deal. With Patchouli it could be the synthetic issue or the new versus aged EO, and with Lavender it is ALL the synthetic scents (they are all so different, just about every dime store product has a different smell) and the EO's themselves. Of course the different varieties smell different, but there is a world of difference between what most people think lavender smells like and what the EO's smell like.

For my straight Patchouli soap, I prefer cold process and no gel.

I've had a 4oz bottle in the back of a closet for 2 years now, and won't touch it for a couple more. It shall be awesome! The one from a friend was 6ish years old, she can't really remember! MUCH better smell once it has had a nice long age!

Another thought.... the older one gets the harder it is to wait that long! I guess there could always be some concern that the FO will need to be around longer than the user. :oops: :roll: Maybe I should have started this soaping stuff when I was somewhat younger!
