I have Santa's Spruce and Wassail FOs from BB, they're both listed as discoloring. Well the site says Santa's Spruce MAY discolor. I want to test exactly what they do and what happens with colorants. How long should I watch for the discoloration though? Will it happen within a few days or will it continue to discolor more as it cures over several weeks, or could it vary depending on recipe and FO?

I'm kind of curious about this too only for M&P. I soaped with Kentish rain and a half teaspoon of that green blue shimmer mica. I hope it doesn't discolor too much...

Most times when I've used a discoloring FO, the discoloration started showing up within 24-48 hours. A few of them continued to get darker for a couple of weeks.

I agree with Linda. Most discoloration occurs within the first 48 hours. Although some scents that contain vanillin in them can take longer (sometimes weeks or more).

Also, Lhangen, I've been using Kentish Rain forever & have never had it discolor.

Thanks guys! I made all my testers today, Now to wait and see what happens in the next couple days! I tested all my FO's, I also have champagne and Chai as a sample. Just to see how those smell in a soap rather than OOB. Champagne isn't supposed to discolor and the chai will definitely go brown. But my husband thinks our apartment smells pretty good right now, all four of those mingled in the air.

I tried my first melt and pour last week and I had somthing verry strange happen. I made some Shaving Soap using Cedar Saffron, I had purchased this from another soap maker and love the scent. The sopa is clear, hers is a soft gold/orange color. When I made mine is was clear the next day I split it in half and I used one half and my husband used one half. The more I used it the darker it got, it is now the same color as the one that I purchased and his half is a pale yellow color. How can this be??? Does water make is change color???

I don't think it takes 24 to48 hour for discoloring because the time i has tried it just take between 12 to 15 hour. :D
