Teach Soap

So, unmolded my first goatsmilk soap and it was burned and had big black spots in it, obviously it was burned. But....? I had frozen the goats milk and added the lye to the frozen goats milk, and I had it in a ice bath. Watching my temperature, it didn't go over 90 degrees? What did I do wrong? I'm afraid to try it again??

I mix my soap at around 110 degrees even with milk soaps. My soaps go in the fridge or the freezer to prevent gel.

That's strange the worst GM batch I made turned deep orange from adding the lye too fast. Could the black spots be from other soap? I had to fish black soap bits out of a batch once because I'd just used my stick blender in soap with activated charcoal. I didn't get all the black soap from under the blade when I washed it.

What did you use to mix the lye water in and what pot/container did you use to mix the raw soap in?

When I make my GM soap, I add it at thin trace. I don't insulate because GM tends to heat up a bit, and I live in Florida where it's pretty warm anyway. I have never had a problem. I don't know if this helps, but it might give you something to think about. Good luck!
