I just made my first batch of soap. Loved it. I will make a few more batches before I try scents. I do have some sample bottles I ordered from MMS.
Would like comments on the fos I have and which ones would be easiest for a newbie to use.
Green Clover and Aloe
Lilac
Bitter orange Orchid
Sensual
Christmas
Tea Leaf & Papaya

I wish I could help but I have never ordered from MMS and never used any of those fragrances. Most florals with accelerate trace

I have not used those scents. I read the descriptions - because Sensual has some cinnamon scent in it, I would use a slow tracing recipe. I haven't had a problem with the florals, really - they do cause the soap to thicken up, so it's hard to get fancy swirls, but not as bad as clove essential oil does.

I'd say...just go for it!

For florals and other scents that might accelerate, you can sometimes slow down the trace by mixing the fragrance into your warm oils before adding your lye solution. That seems to disperse the scent more evenly than pouring it in at trace.

I thought the lye would burn off most scents which is why most recipes say add at trace or when cooler?.. Am I wrong?

Stay away from florals and spice scents as a beginner. One exception to that rule being lavender.

I didn't use any of these scents but sandalwood. Its oil gives a sweet and woody fragrance that I think most people (especially beginners) would love it.

I have now used 4 of these scents.

Christmas Tree No discoloration, no acceleration. Smells more like pine cleaner than Christmas trees.
Lilac No disc. Some acc.. Smells wonderful, just like lilacs.
Green Clover and Aloe LOVE this fragrance. Was so easy to work with and I can't stop smelling it.
Sensual Discolored. Heated and gelled even though I put in the fridge as soon as poured. The scent oob smelled like my
hubbie's aftershave but not so much in the soap.

I ordered these fragrances before I really knew much about making soap and hadn't discovered BB yet. There was no info about discoloration or acceleration . I have since ordered several scents from BB and love that they tell you what to expect.

Can't stop soaping! :) :) :)
