I just realized this morning I haven't been posting as much the last couple weeks, and feel bad about it. We've been pretty busy, doing craft fairs and freaking over the closeness of fires. Also school started the last Monday. The Blackberry Festival went ok-it was around 110, smokey and no one wanted to really buy anything. When it started thundering and lightning, we left (our boy is scared of thunder)-lucky we did, cuz it started to rain, and soap and rain just don't mix, LOL! The lightning started some more fires, closer to us, near where we'll be going for the next craft fair (Seiad Day-used to be Day's', but not no more!). I really dislike waking up to helicopters and planes dropping water, but it's necessary. The hosts of Seiad Day weren't sure if there was going to be an event, as it is held at the local fire station, and Seiad is tent city now with firefighters, but as of this am, it's happening. Yay!! Not as far, not as hot, and there is a parade first thing in the morning. The boy is really looking forward to that, cuz they throw bunches of candy and he gets to stock up til Halloween. We're going to be doing some fall scents, like pumpkin cheesecake, buttercream and snickerdoodle (I LOVE that scent!!) and vanillas.
If anyone is interested in our fires, go to
www.inciweb.org, click on California in the selection box, then look for Klamath National Forest. The one I was talking about (Seiad) is still relatively small, but conditions are nasty....
