hi, new to this website...I'm looking for a recipe that I would be able to use for a dog shampoo....I haven't fiqured out how to create a soap recipe, so have just used what I have found available....would a simple OO,CO,PO,Castor oil, or AO(sweet) be okay to use on her, she is a Bichon, typical for problematic skin....

My understanding is that dogs really need a lower pH than is achievable in CP soap. That's why it's much better for their skin to use dog shampoo, rather than people shampoo. I've toyed with the idea of making a liquid soap dog shampoo, because I think you can get a lower pH with liquid soap.

For tips on making a dog shampoo, baby shampoo is often used on dogs with sensitive skin, so try finding a baby shampoo recipe and tweaking it to your liking!

Thanks to all who responded to my question concerning a dog shampoo. I made a simple bar of soap to ward off bugs using E.O., and ended up using it on my little Bichon. She doesn't have problem skin, it just seems to be in that breeds history. She is fine, and I used the bar soap on her and on my daughters Bichon without any problems....but I would like to make bar soap or shampoo to sell, but really don't know what would be better. And since I now make all my families soaps, it is only natural that I make her shampoo as well. I did wonder about baby soap, and found a recipe in an older soaping book...The Soapmaking Companion...thought of making some baby soaps for my grandchildren. I haven't made any liquid soaps with success, but that was before I knew what I know now...I have only made CP soaps thus far. I do think I will continue using the professional dog shampoo for around the eyes, a no tear formula, that is beyond my skill level at this point...thanks for your imput...

Thanks Linda, I did go on the web after posting this question, found two recipes, and then redirected two new questions concerning these recipes, will wait for a response about those...thank you....
