wow, glad i wasn't the only one wondering on this, like sheephater i have soap piling up and my husband keeps asking when i am going to do something about it. Soapbuddy you are on the money, a bar of soap in the boys bathroom lasts a little over two weeks at one sometimes two showers daily each, and believe me they just leave it on the soap dish. I will use sheephaters advice about storing samples in the future. The funny thing is what actually got me started on soapmaking was a bar of soap my daughter bought me at a fair about 5 yrs ago! I found it in the bottom of a drawer and it still smelled great and lathered well so I figured wow this is cool so I found a recipe that had the same oils and that was my first batch! Now I'm hooked Love this forum and all the advice and the way everyone shares!

I just want to add my 2 cents in here. I agree that knowing how your soap behaves on a long-term basis before you sell is a good idea. It is also wise even if you do not sell because not every one will use your soaps as soon as they get them. I have given a lot of soaps to friends and family and they have not used them until months later, sometimes not until after 6 months or more. My husband and I go over to some friends' house on Saturdays, and the last time I was there I noticed that one of my soaps was in the shower. Guess when I made this soap? December of 2007. So, I think it is best to wait before selling and make sure that your soap is stable and can stand the test of time, IMHO. I've been making CP soap for a little over a year and a half, and I am just in the beginning phase of getting ready to sell.
