Hi everybody! I am about to make my first dessert-type soap and it needs 3 layers...a crust, a filling & a topping. Can anyone tell me how much soap in a 4 lb. batch I would layer out for a 1/2 inch bottom and a 1 inch top with the rest in the middle...these calculators are making me batty... :shock:

The only way I know to make each layer a specific height is to make separate batches. Otherwise take the 64 ozs. of soap and divide it by 3, but you won't get the specific height of each.

Lovemysoap, what if you take a measuring cup and measure water into your mold and see how much it takes to fill your mold to 1/2 inch and an inch. Then split your batch by those measurements to fragrance and color separately?

You could use a ruler and drop it into your mold and pour how many inches of each color you require. I've done this with a plastic ruler and it worked for me.
